Buick Establishing Strong Luxury Brand Presence In China

As Buick continues to post strong sales numbers and introduce exciting new models like the 2012 Verano, we here at Gurley Leep GM can't help but be amazed. What's even more impressive, however, than the American automaker's domestic comeback is the bold presence that it's establishing in the emerging Chinese market.

Buick sales in China have topped 645,537 for 2011. That marks a 17.4-percent growth for the company. "GM stayed ahead of the competition despite a slowdown in the growth of industry demand thanks to our broad portfolio of appealing vehicles,"1 explains Kevin Wale, president of GM China Group.

Of course, it wasn't simply the wide range of new Buick models offered by GM that propelled the company into the country's automotive limelight. Buick simply stood out as the better financial investment against the competition. This came as a result of two new decisions made by the Chinese government; one that ended subsidies for domestic automakers and another ending a tax break that many citizens took advantage of. The result is that China's total automotive growth slowed from a 32-percent increase in 2010 to about a 5-percent increase in 2011. In the end, buyers sought not only an affordable luxury vehicle, but also one that would last for years down the road.

The same can be said for those who opt to finance or lease a Buick here at Gurley Leep GM, located at 215 W. Douglas Rd.. Whether they're appealing to drivers in the greater Mishawaka area or buyers in the Chinese market and other emerging regions, Buick knows how to boast a sense of luxury, performance, and value that other automakers simply cannot.
